ABOUT THE VISEGRÁD SCHOOL OF POLITICAL STUDIES

The seminars and workshops of the Visegrád School of Political Studies are designed to help increase involvement in the democratic processes, foster exchange of know-how, and strengthen regional cooperation among a new generation of Central and Eastern European leaders. The VSPS currently operates the following programs: The VSPS Annual Program and the V4 meets EaP seminar.

VSPS ANNUAL PROGRAM

The VSPS Annual Program is open for young professionals from Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia with 3+ years of experience in politics, civil society, public administration and journalism. Selected participants meet 5 times over the course of a year in each of the Visegrád capitals, plus Strasbourg for the World Forum for Democracy held annually in November. During the program, participants discuss the main challenges of democratic processes in the Visegrád Group, as well as how to strengthen the democratic processes and the overall future of the European Union. The VSPS Annual Program is organized in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the International Visegrád Fund.

V4 MEETS EAP

The V4 meets EaP program is an extension of the Visegrád School of Political Studies Annual Program that aims to promote the collective and individual V4 democratic transition experience to young political, social and governmental leaders from Eastern Partnership countries. The V4 meets EaP brings together 30 participants from V4 and EaP countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia and the Ukraine) for week-long seminars that focus on EU integration, civil society development and general transitional experience. The V4 meets EaP program is organized in cooperation with the Council of Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, and the International Visegrád Fund.

VSPS + BALKANS

VSPS + Balkans initiative is an extension of current activities of the Visegrad School of Political Studies (VSPS), promoting the experiences of V4 democratic transitions, European integration and cooperation to young political, social and governmental leaders from Western Balkan countries. The VSPS + Balkans will consist of one 3 day session, addressed to 16 participants from Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. The VSPS + Balkans will be a continuation of Visegrad School of Political Studies efforts of promoting V4 cooperation to the Western Balkan region and further investment in human capital under the framework of CoE’s Schools of Political Studies that will recruit young high potential leaders from media, public administration, political parties and civil society activists from V4 and Western Balkans.

VISEGRAD SCHOOL OF POLITICAL STUDIES MEETS RUSSIA

Visegrad School of Political Studies Meets Russia is a new program of the School that aims at supporting civil society, combating stereotypes, and strengthening ties between young social and political leaders from Visegrad Group and Russia. Thanks to generous support of the Council of Europe and the Department of Public and Cultural Democracy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, the program is a full scholarship initiative, with all costs including travel covered. The sessions will be organized by the European Academy of Diplomacy in cooperation with our Russian partner.

VSPS WESTERN BALKANS ANTI-CORRUPTION FORUM

Newest VSPS project will focus on sharing the V4 countries’ experiences in combating corruption among the Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia). Program objectives include identifying the gaps in combating corruption in the Western Balkans, sharing V4 experiences in the field, and equipping chosen participants with skills and knowledge necessary to improve anticorruption measures in their countries.
