On November 7-9, 2022, participants of the United 4 News program attended the 10th edition of the World Forum for Democracy with the main theme “Democracy: A New Hope?”
It is a unique platform for political decision-makers and activists to debate solutions to key challenges for democracies worldwide. By identifying and analyzing experimental initiatives and practices, the Forum highlights and encourages democratic innovations at the grassroots and their transfer on a systemic level in order to strengthen the foundations of democratic societies. The Forum thus contributes to the evolution of democracy towards more participatory and inclusive structures and institutions.
Every year, the participants of VSPS programmes are invited to Strasbourg, to the historic Palais de l’Europe, to take part in the World Forum for Democracy which brings together participants and experts from around the world, including Heads of State and Government, representatives of European institutions and the French government, European and international academics.
This time, the participants were able to attend workshops on topics such as Fighting Disinformation and the Power of the Social Media, Polarisation and Democratic Engagement and History and Education – Knowledge and Manipulation. They also had a chance to witness the handover of the presidency from Ireland to Iceland.
Representatives of the European Academy of Diplomacy have also met with Ambassador Jerzy Baurski, who serves as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe. We discussed ways to promote young Poles in international institutions and challenges facing Europe today.
